George Drakopoulos
George Drakopoulos has studied Tourism Management in Greece (TEI Athens) Hotel Management in Glion, CH and holds an MSc in Tourism Studies from Surrey University, UK.
With more than 25 years experience in tourism, he has been invited in many international conferences and has produced several research works about tourism.
As from 1997, he serves as Director General of SETE, the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises. He represents SETE in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the European Economic and Social Committee, the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IHRA), the European Tourism & Travel Action Group and in the Greek-Turkish Business Council.
During the period 1998-2007 he was holding one of the Vice Presidents positions in the Executive Committee of the UNWTO Business Council (WTOBC). As from 2005, he is also Member of the Committees of Statistics & Tourism Satellite Account and Marketing / Promotion of the UNWTO. During the 17th General Assembly of the UNWTO (Nov. 2007), he has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Affiliate Members.
He speaks English, French, German and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
