A trained Chemist, Sofia went on to study in France, receiving degrees in Oenology and Wine Tasting from the University of Bordeaux. She has worked harvests for Château Magdelaine Premier Grand Cru Classé de St Emilion and Domaine Hatzimichalis in Greece.
In 1998 Sofia was hired by the Greek Wine Federation(GWF) where she worked for the promotion of Greek wine at home and abroad, Greek wine legislation, the creation of educational programs for the wine sector and organization of trans-national activities between European winemaking countries.
In 2003 Sofia founded All About Greek Wine (AAGW) the first company to create and manage a national promotional campaign for Greek wine in North America. AAGW now manages the Greek Wine Bureau in North America on behalf of the National Inter-Professional Organization of Vine and Wine and coordinates the promotional activities in the US for New Wines of Greece sponsored by the Hellenic Foreign Trade Board. Sofia continues to consult for GWF and participates in national advisory committees for the promotion of Greek wines.
In 2011 Sofia was voted Best Ambassador for Greek wine in a poll conducted by Wine Business International Magazine. She also participates as a judge in international wine competitions and her articles have appeared in various Greek wine publications.
