Yannis Voyatzis
Born in August 1956 in Velvento Kozani.
He studied chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Enology at the Institute of Oenology of the University of Bordeaux.
He returned to Greece in 1984, immediately after the end of his studies with the title of Doctor in Oenology and Viticulture and significant experience in winemaking.
Since then and until today, he is working in Boutari S.A. as Chief Oenologist, responsible for its vineyards and supply of grapes, production of wine as well as Research and Development.
In 1990 he replanted the old vineyard of his family in Velvento Kozani and in 1997 founded with his brother “Voyatzi Winery”.
Awarded since 1986 by SEVOP (Federation of Greek Industries Wine & Spirits) "for his contribution to the development of technology in Greek wine production" he participates in scientific conferences and publishes papers in various journals and magazines on wine.
Member of the International Wine Academy and the Boards of a) the Union of Wine Producers (Wine Roads) of Northen Greece (President), b) the Greek Wine Federation (Vice President) and c) the National Interprofessional Organisation of Wine & Vine.
