Brian D. Krohn


Dr. Brian D Krohn is an assistant profession in the Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management (TCEM) at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). His primary research focus is in the area of consumer behavior, specifically in the area of sport tourism. Current research projects include; a comprehensive look at Indiana¢s golf industry, identifying motivations for golf tourism in Indiana, social motivations to participate in sport event tourism, impacts of amateur sport travel, and identifying best practices in employee motivation within event tourism businesses. His background as a golf professional drives his research into the experiences of sport participation and active sport travel. Prior to joining the faculty at IUPUI in 2009, he managed several research projects at one of the world¢s most popular golf destinations while complete his PhD in Tourism Management at Clemson University. His research has been presented at several international sport and tourism conferences as well as many academic journals.

 

Dr. Krohn is also a co-investigator of a strategic project to align the curriculum in TCEM with the changes in the event tourism industry. Through student projects in his management principles and human resource management classes his students have partnered with over a dozen businesses and professionals associated with Indianapolis¢ vibrant and growing event tourism industry to address issues in recruitment, training, motivation, and retention of employees. He also is an innovator of technology in the classroom working with new software and being among the first to implement university initiatives such as electronic textbooks.
